Innocence

- 1 min

Life leads us by the hand
Across the vast seas, over the desert sands
Myriad images do you see
Shouts of sorrow to laughs of glee

From devilish vile to heavenly sights
From shallow smiles to heart-breaking cries
With hidden tears and open lies
Smiling wickedly Fate rolls the dice

From an adolescent to an adult have I grown
Seeds of jealousy, greed, and hatred have been sown
From dawn to dusk have I toiled
Many a garment has been soiled

Friendships gained, relationships lost
But one thing that strikes me the most
Is the sweet innocence that has been lost
Is the sweet innocence that has been lost…
